Exporting invoices to Xero or QuickBooks
Download issued invoices and credit notes as a file your accounts software can import.
You can download your issued invoices and credit notes to import into your accounts software, so you don't type them in twice.
- Click Invoices in the menu, then Export.
- Choose the dates the invoices were issued, and the layout: Xero, QuickBooks Online or a plain spreadsheet.
- Click Check to see how many there are, then Download.
Importing into Xero
In Xero, go to Business, Invoices, then Import, and choose the file. Lines use account code 200 (Sales); if you use a different sales account, change the code in the file before importing. Credit notes are in the file as negative amounts, which Xero imports as credit notes.
Importing into QuickBooks Online
In QuickBooks, go to Settings, Import data, then Invoices, and choose the file. Check that the columns are matched, then import.
Only import once
Each export includes every invoice issued in the dates you choose. Export a month at a time, after it's finished, so the same invoice isn't imported twice.
